Cotsen Alumna Honored for Work with Technology in Education

ClaudettePatneyHeadshotIn October 2015, Cotsen alumna Claudette Pantney was the recipient of the San Gabriel Valley CUE Outstanding Teacher Award in recognition of her contributions to educational technology in a classroom setting. Now, Claudette is being considered for the national CUE Outstanding Teacher of the Year award.

Currently a 5th grade teacher at La Verne Science & Technology Charter School in the Pomona Unified School District, Claudette was selected as an ART of TEACHING mentor back in 2009. Though her mentorship concluded in 2011, Claudette remains a deeply engaged alumna of the program and her commitment to supporting the professional growth of her colleagues is as strong as ever.

As a Technology Teacher Lead at Pomona, Claudette facilitates professional development for teachers at her district to further their understanding of how to integrate technology into their instruction in meaningful ways. This year, Claudette will also be working closely with principals to help facilitate their understanding of technology at their schools. She is also deeply passionate about finding creative ways of incorporating technology into her own lessons, making learning in her classroom an engaging experience that fuels students’ love of learning.

We are very proud of Claudette and wish her continued success in her pursuit of teaching excellence. We are always seeking to highlight the achievements of our program participants. If you know about the awards and achievements of other Cotsen teachers and administrators, please let us know!
