LOS ANGELES, CA, June 23, 2015 — The Cotsen Foundation for the ART of TEACHING is proud to announce its support for the Eighth Biennial Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI) National Conference taking place June 25-27, 2015 in Lawndale, California.

The CGI Conference, presented by the UCLA Mathematics Project and Teachers Development Group, will host hundreds of educators from across the country for a three-day conference dedicated to furthering the understanding of children’s mathematics.

Featuring noted experts and authors, including Susan Empson, Megan Franke, Elham Kazemi, Allison Hintz, Tyrone Howard, and Vicki Jacobs, this year’s conference will explore the theme of Equity, Access, and Students’ Identities in the Teaching and Learning of Mathematics as inspired by the newly published second edition of Children’s Mathematics.

Registration kicks off Thursday, June 25th at 3:00 p.m. with a selection of gourmet food trucks sponsored by the Cotsen Foundation for the ART of TEACHING. This event is included as part of registration for all attendees.

More than 500 educators have registered for the CGI Conference, dozens of whom are participants in Cotsen’s ART of TEACHING program. The CGI Conference will offer attendees the opportunity to “develop and extend their understanding of CGI, learn about the latest research advances in CGI, and share about the impact CGI has on mathematics learning in Pre K-6 classrooms.”

Please note that this year’s conference is filled to capacity and registration is closed. The Cotsen Foundation for the ART of TEACHING salutes the hundreds of dedicated classroom teachers, administrators, researchers, and others for participating in this three-day conference that promises to be both informative and inspiring.
