Cotsen to Host Multiple Events on One Saturday in February

The Cotsen Foundation for the ART of TEACHING will be hosting two separate professional development events on Saturday, Feb. 27, and is expecting a combined 200 educators in attendance at both events.

In recent years, the Foundation has been offering an increasing number of conferences and workshops, some held on Saturdays, in an effort to meet the rising demand among Cotsen teachers and administrators for specialized and differentiated trainings and professional development.

STEAM Ahead, one of the two upcoming events, is a full-day tech conference in Los Alamitos for educators who want to further their knowledge and skills around technology integration. Conference goers will have an opportunity to attend STEAM sessions illustrating meaningful technology integration within the transformational levels of SAMR. Sessions will explore a variety of topics, including Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI), Programming and Coding, Primary and Upper Grade Robotics, Introduction to Engineering, and STEAM in K-2, among others.

That same day, the Foundation will also be hosting a “not for beginners” CGI Workshop in Long Beach for Cotsen fellows and alumni, with a focus on CGI for grades 3-6. The training will be led by math specialist, Nick Johnson.

The Foundation will be hosting more Saturday events later this Spring, including a half-day conference on instructional technology and a CGI Workshop for K-2 teachers.
