Cindy Bak, who served as a Senior Program Officer for the Cotsen Foundation from 2021-2023
and then as Assistant Director from 2023-2026, has taken the position of Principal of Shelyn Elementary School in the Rowland Unified School District. Cindy started as a student teacher at the Shelyn in 2004, bringing her educational journey full circle. She is a dynamic and inspirational leader who brings joy to every encounter. We wish Cindy all the best in her new role as principal and thank her for her countless contributions to the Foundation’s work. We will miss you, Cindy!
We are delighted to welcome Stephanie Guppy as our new Associate Director. With more than two decades of experience in education and a longstanding connection to the Cotsen Foundation, Stephanie brings valuable leadership, insight, and dedication to our work. She has served as a teacher, principal, district leader, and Cotsen Mentor in the Fullerton School District. Most recently, as principal of Laguna Road Elementary, Stephanie has coached school leaders, led professional learning initiatives, and championed innovative programs that strengthen teaching and learning.
We are excited to welcome Gia Meade to the team as our newest Senior Program Officer. She brings
more than 25 years of experience supporting teaching, learning, and educator growth, and is a Cotsen Alumna Fellow. Most recently, Gia served as a Community School Specialist in Tustin Unified School District, where she developed leadership programs, fostered community partnerships, and designed meaningful learning opportunities for educators and families. Her primary responsibilities will be in the areas of Post-Fellowship Year support and Family Engagement.
