TEACH: Two-Hour Special on the Public School System and Teachers

We are excited to share information about a two-hour special from filmmaker Davis Guggenheim (“The First Year,” “Waiting for Superman,” “An Inconvenient Truth”) and Participant Media called “TEACH” that explores the American education system and celebrates teachers, airing this Friday, September 6th.

Through footage capturing a year in the lives of four public school teachers from different parts of the country, “TEACH” serves as a refreshing reminder that teachers are richly nuanced professionals, diverse in their knowledge and experience, who work in the challenging and complex field of education.

The special also delivers a message that we feel is very much consistent with our own belief that the critical variable in a successful education system is a teacher who possesses the technical skills and knowledge to meet his or her students’ instructional needs, and that teachers of this caliber are not “born”, rather they are developed through coaching, mentoring, and a great deal of dedication and support.

“TEACH” airs on CBS this Friday from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. In the meanwhile, you can learn more about this program by reading the official press release.
